New V today!

Hey everyone, I've been lurking as a guest for the past couple weeks but figured I should register since I picked up my green '09 Versys today!

It's always nice to have an active online community for your hobbies- I've traded great information on the Subaru Forester and KLX 250 forums.

I got the bug to learn to ride last year when a friend stopped by on a long tour from the East Coast on his big BMW GS Adventure. A week later, I found the bike I wanted- an '07 KLX 250, which has been a great starter bike.

It was murder waiting a month for my MSF class, just looking at that bike every day.

Fast forward a year and thousands of miles later, and I've found a bunch of friends ride, too. We hit the canyons here in Northern Colorado and I was rolling that throttle to keep up.

I started considering a motard conversion and a 351 upgrade for the KLX, or picking up a DR-Z 400 SM...but kept looking. I found the Versys. Plenty of power, fuel injection, road manners and even the windshield I thought I didn't need even though my neck burned on the cold fall rides.

It was a wonderful ride back from the dealer today. 40 degrees and windy as hell, but I had a smile on my face the whole way having all of that power on tap and not getting blown around in my lane.

I've already had my first question answered (white "fog" in the oil level sight glass) so I just have to say "Thanks!" for all of the information here.

Now I have to try to be good and not start thinking of all of the mods I want...my KLX is now completely farkled out. I'm thinking a 12v plug for my GPS, and then RIDE THE THING.

+1 on Ride the Thing... Welcome and enjoy the V...Mine keeps getting better and so will yours. But you do have to donate some to the farkle fund just to personalize it, at least that's what I keep telling the wife every time the brown truck pulls up

If I new what I was doing, I wouldn't still be working

Good of you to join.
Ride the hell out of her, enjoy, and be safe.
Like contractor said, the brown truck is our friend!

Welcome aboard. Post some pics when you add mods or go somewhere scenic.
