Hi from Southern KY

Hi, my name is Rob and I'm addicted to motorcycles.

After putting 1,200 miles on my current ride this weekend, I have been kicking around the idea of selling my 02 VFR and picking up a Versys. I ran across this site and it looks like a perfect spot to gather some info.

I'm starting to get a little older and think a more upright ride that can still handle the twistys as well as the city streets may be in order.

I rode with someone who has a V this past weekend, but stupid me didn't ask to even sit on his bike .

I'm going to go browse the site a bit for now.

See ya.

Welcome to the group!

It's good to have a new Kentucky rider in the forum - I've been thinking about doing a ride up through the Amish country in your state. Got any pix?
I think that you'll like the Vee. It's not everybody's cup of tea, but for me, it's the perfect combination of power, handling, and dependability. Lots of touring goodies are available too. Good luck!

Don't you think that it's a ^%#$&# shame that Hunter S. Thompson wasn't an adventure rider? Imagine the ride reports...!

I've got a bunch of pics from this weekend. Did a group ride with the SEMF guys down at Townsend TN. Hit all the good roads around there (Cherokee Mtn, Blue Ridge, Deals Gap, Foothills Pkwy, Cherohala Pkwy (my favorite road down there).

I've never been to the Amish country in KY. I've ridden in the eastern part of the state a few times. US421 (The snake) is a realy cool place to ride. Pine mountain is fun too (not sure if that is in KY, TN, VA, NC though). That was another group ride where I was just playing follow the leader. I'm never too sure where we end up, and I don't really care as longs as the roads are fun.

If you had told me you were interested you could have hopped aboard last weekend!

Steve

I bought a motorcycle because my wife said that I couldn't! Now I have two and she still says I can't have another one!

I really didn't know until the ride home. I started feeling the effects of the long weekend and things ran through my mind during the 325 mile ride. It was like a golden ray of light coming through the trees. "hey, how about a more upright bike that still handles well", I thought to myself. Then I started trying to figure out options and remembered your bike.

Too little, too late this ride. Maybe I'll have a Versys by the Spring Fling ride. I need to sell the VFR first (or possibly trade if someone is interested).

Hey, gang! You've got another new member from Kentucky. I'm in Louisville. I've been riding my Versys for a year. What a great bike!! All day comfort; any faster and it would just get me into trouble; terrific in the twisties; good economy. Every time I start thinking about another bike, my Versys has it beat in more than one respect.

To my neighbor down in southern Kentucky -- I was around Lake Cumberland last weekend (unfortunately without my bike). That looks like a wonderful area to ride. Let me know if you want some routes in an around Louisville and southern Indiana.
