Leemolou, I was in the same boat as you last year and finally stepped up to the Versys and never looked back after selling my KLR .

Welcome aboard from Ottawa.

Seems that stepping up from the KLR to the Versys is not that uncommon. There's the odd time I miss the KLR, but the V hasn't disappointed me yet. It's a great bike.

Hello, I live near Windsor Ontario.
Thinking about "stepping down" from my Yamaha FZ1 , after 7 years.
Now, after reading about all those cracked frame and engine-mounts,
I am beginning to wonder if I should wait until spring.
Any experiences in Ontario with those frame problems?
Thank you,
slant

lee,

I'm another former KLR-er. It's like night and day, brother. I'm not big on lusting after all the latest toys but the Versys is a phenomenal upgrade from the KLR and brought the joy back to motorcycling for me.

As far as frame issues are concerned I don't recall the last time I read about such a problem on this board. Some guys found there was a bit of a gap between the frame and engine when the mounting bolts were loosened, and some of those guys used washers to shim the gap before retightening, but as far as I can recollect no one has reported frame failures. It's a robust machine.
