New in Edmonds, WA

I've been lurking in this forum since June. I took the MSF riding course at the urging of a friend, which got me excited about riding again. I purchased my 2009 Candy Plasma Blue Versys in mid-July (it was my birthday present to myself!).

I've not done much motorcycle riding for many years, so am still learning the ropes and building my confidence. My only other motorcycle was a 1974 Kawasaki 175cc Enduro bike (F7C), which I loved to take on logging roads in eastern Washington. I wanted a bike that would get me around on the pavement, and could still get me to the campsites on Forestry roads, and I think the Versys will do that very nicely.

Gary,

Welcome, I think you made the right choice! Rode mine over the Mt Loop Highway to Darrington last week. That's about 25 miles of gravel road then took the back road from Oso to Lake Cavanaugh, another 10 miles of loose gravel. All on the stock style rubber. Give me a shout if you would like to get out sometime.

Welcome to the Versys world. We have a group (I use the word loosely) of about a dozen Versys here in the Pacific Northwet and have infrequent rides (do a search and you'll see some pics). Watch out for Viagra (VersysIntoAdventuresandGreatRidesAnytime) postings-think we managed 3 so far this year.

Hey Gary. I gave Myself a red versys last July for my 62nd birthday.
Have 17000 miles of backroads on camping trips with out a problem.
My last ride before last year was a dirtbike in 1977!! I didn't take any course, but got
my learners permit, and then took the test and barely passed...
After not riding a motorcycle for 30 years---not even a test ride , driving the new versys from the dealership was Terrifying to say the least..

Thanks for the welcome. I would love to meet the local people. I've been looking at some of the rides the VIAGRA group has done, and they look like a lot of fun. Not sure I'd be able to keep up yet. Do you have an email list? Or just keep watching this forum to get in on the fun?
