Excited about my Versys

After quite a bit of research, aggravation dealing with a lousy (initial) salesman, and my usual guilt about wanting something more, I signed the papers for a 2008 Versys with only 900 miles. Saved a bunch compared to new. Trading in my 2008 Ninja 250 that served me very well for over 8000 miles. Just wanted something that had more neutral ergos, a bit more power and better for light touring. The info on this forum was invaluable. Thanks to all.

After the first salesman acted as though I was born the day before I visited him, I almost said the heck with this particular bike at this particular dealer. Then after seeing the bike was still for sale one month later, I emailed him with my last offer - kind of to bust his butt, and also to see if he would respond. If he didn't respond, I planned on speaking with the owner. To my surprise, another salesman responded to the email, saying my offer was very close to what he'd be willing to sell for. He also said the first salesman was "no longer with them", and apologized for his behavior. Wow!

I like the Versys for many reasons; utilitarian, quirky looks, good mpg and flickable. Never had a bike with fuel injection so will have to get use to that more immediate response. A little shorter inseam, but can easily get both "balls" of my feet down. I'm just very excited. Hope I can report that the Versys is all I hoped it would be.

Welcome aboard! I've often said the worst thing about buying a vehicle is dealing with sales people. I wish it was more like buying a loaf of bread, just walk up, pick your vehicle, scan the bar code & leave with it. No haggling, no worrying about mark up or getting ripped off, everybody pays the same price... Well you get my meaning.

Anyway, did I say welcome?
