Hello from Subic Bay, Philippines

New member here, just saying hello from warm and sunny Subic Bay Freeport in the Philippines.

I am originally from the states, but lived in Asia for nearly 14 years now- a great deal of that in China.

Moved my family here to Subic Bay mainly to put my young children into good schools, but enjoying the lifestyle and community here enormously.

Took delivery of a 2014 Versys 650 on the 18th of December and am enjoying it so far. It seems to be a solid platform with a lot of room to tweak and improve to suit my tastes. I am going to ask a lot of the bike- to be essentially a commuter / errand bike, to do some fundamental level adventure riding (pavement and semi-improved roads- no real off-roading) and to handle Manila traffic at times.

Sure to be asking a lot of questions in the coming weeks and months- thanks in advance to the forum administrators and active members.

Phil

Glad you are enjoying your stay in the Philippines. I had some good memories from Subic although i grew up in Metro Manila.

Hi Phil,

I'm Danish, now living in Baguio and enjoying life here. I'm looking to purchase a '14 Versys next week, for much the same purpose as you describe. Car just guzzles gas, and I constantly get stuck in traffic.

Where did you buy yours, and if I can ask - did you pay MSRP? Did you get any accessories with it?

Enjoy your early Christmas present
