New Versys owner in SE Minnesota

Hello all , just picked up a 2012 yellow and black 2 weeks ago. First Bike. I was checking out this forum alot before the purchase... Thanks for all the info.

I got a pretty good deal on it through the COSTCO program. $7200 OTD, plus a $200 COSTCO gift card.

I am a fan of LEDS and I've put a few on the new Versys so far. I put some VLED 1800 lumen Cree LED's in the high and low beams (big improvement over stock), a cheap 6000K projector led for the city light and some cheapo ebay LED COB DRL strip lights.

I also added some amber LEDS for the turn signal and changed the thermal flasher with an electronic one so I don't get the hyper-flash. Works good.

I needed a small bit of storage, so I added a Bags Connection Daypack tankbag. It's a nice bag. I really like the tankring mounting.

Not much riding weather left in MN, but I've managed to put 300 miles on her so far. Still in the break in period, so have not seen what she is capable yet, but so far I am really happy. If anyone wants any more info on the LEDS, let me know.

Minnesota, eh? Land of 8 months of winter followed by 4 months of bad skiing.

That's about right. I'm originally from the Philly area, it's a big change...

They are about 30% brighter than the stock 55w halogens, but only consume half the power, and that includes the cooling fan that is attached to the back. the quality seems to be decent, but I suspect they are made in China because I've seen similar ones on ebay. I've have the first version of these on my truck high beams for over a year with no problems.

Install went ok, just had to modify the dust boot a little.

Here is where I got them: http://www.vleds.com/featured/cxa-led-headlights.html

Here is a crappy iPhone video of the lights:

And a comparison - before and after:

Nice looking bike!

If you want a target for an evening ride in your area check out one of the ADVrider tag threads:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=459208

The current tag should be pretty close to you. One of the Twin Cities guys will be getting it on Saturday if you don't get it first. Check page one of the thread for the rules. The current zone of operation is a 200 mile radius from the capital. On November 1 it reverts to a 75 mile radius.

I really like the LED's behind your forks, I might have to copy that my friend!

If you want to get into meet ups and what not there is a good group of guys and gals over at ADVrider and we all get together at least once a month! All kinda of bikes.

We all joke around and have fun.
