FINALLY. New from Akron Ohio

I finally got to pick up my bike from the dealership tonight. I was waiting on my jacket to come in. I got dropped off, threw my gear on and went out back to the practice area to get used to it. I'm glad i went with the Versys over a sport bike. Its pretty comfy for my 6-1 frame. My bike is green, pretty slick.

I'm 31, live in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, own a personal training studio, and a killer Nissan Xterra.

Any vacation I go on is to go wheeling with the Xterra, its got a 6 inch suspension lift, 35 inch bfg km2 mud tires, and various other custom parts. Its truly one of a kind. The versys will save me on gas and be a great parts getter.

Edit:

Horribly retarded question, but i need to ask.

What gear should i be in at what speeds? I was cruising home from the dealership in 5th and 6th gear going between 45 and 65 mph. Go easy on me with the replys! I truely didnt know. I felt like if it seemed boggy, then i should shift up.

Yo

Welcome from another ohioan. I love this bike so will you. I did make the 16T front sprocket change for lower revs on the highway. But typically anything below 4000 rpms starts to get 'boggy'. Good things start to happen above 6000 rpms. The engine was designed for high revving.

Not to insult you, but don't forget its a six speed box! When I got V, it was my first six speed and often forgot to use my new 'gear'. On the flat you should be in 6th at those speeds.

Kawasaki and many of us on this forum recommend following the break-in rpm's of 4000 then 6000 until you have a few more miles on it.
