2011 Lurker surfacing for help

Hi all,
I'm a sort of happy 2011 V owner. She has about 11k miles now and doesn't run anymore..... A valve adjustment gone awry has left the lifters sitting too high and the valve timing, uh gone. I've read everything I can but can't post about my particulars so I'm hoping that this post will enable me to start a new thread. The V is my only transportation so please forgive my less than cheery post. Wow, hows that for an intro, oh boy.

Regards!

OK one more!

It's been quite a while since I joined up and I see that I need two posts an a couple of days in order to start a new thread. I'm the one that keeps quiet and uses the search button. This time however it looks like I waited too long to speak up and have a dead Versys, argh.

So, about the V. I have revalved the forks and installed an R1 shock and lighter spring. After that the V really started to work! The tires were changed out for Michelin Pilot Road 3s and what a difference! She went from being quite nearly unrideable to a really, really fun ride. Coming from an off road background this is an all new experience for me with a street bike. It's still weird sometimes not changing the oil after almost every ride!

What could you have done wrong do you think in the valve adjust? Lifters too high... - do you mean there's NO clearance?

Did you turn it over by hand before starting it up?
