Did the Deed, Traded for a VS

Traded my trusty old collecting dust Yamaha TDM 850 for a 2009 Versys in green just this afternoon. I've been lurking here for awhile, but I think I knew I was going to get a Versys when I first read about them in 2007, and then spent a year and a half waiting for them to come to California.

So this now sits in my garage ...

Awaiting farkling ... much to do there ... and a day off so I can go for a proper ride. That'll have to wait until Saturday because I spent all dang day in the dealership today, what with my trade and having to get them to give me the price I wanted. Not as good as I wanted, but not the full price they wanted either.

So thanks to all here for all the good info that helped me with my final decision, and to the forum author for putting up a great forum.

You'll love it when you get to ride it. I think the green one is a beautiful machine and if I already didn't have a red one, that's what I'd buy. Welcome to the group.

Man, trading in a TDM 850? Is it with some Kawasaki dealer in SD? Mmm, I'd like to see it.

Sounds like you're a tall dude. Welcome!

Peter - I'm an average height girl, actually. I just tend to gravitate toward tall bikes.

Yes, if you want to see the TDM it's at Fun Bike Center in San Diego.

Okay, I'll swing by some time next month. Hopefully they'll still have it.

You have some of the best riding in the US over the San Bernardino Mts. I'm in Palm Desert on the other side.

Did Pala and Hemet last week, of to Ramona on Wed. Highway 74 and the other smaller canyon roads that lead off that, are all great roads with little traffic.
