Versys Delicious....

Hey Folks,

Just thought I'd intro myself. Name is Carl Parker and I managed to swap a well fortified DR650 plus cash for a high mileage 08V (as seen in the Washigton DC add). It's been a little chilly here but so far extremely happy with the couple of miles I've put on it and coming from riding Chinese dual-sports long distance, the V reminds me of my old Bandit 1200.

I run another BBS devoted to people who ride Chinese motorcycles and ride in China (www.mychinamoto.com). For those who don't know, China is probably THE hottest adventure riding country in the world what with crazy history, many many different cultures and languages in addition to OUTRAGEOUS landscapes and plenty of bad roads. I made a movie about it which you can check out in my sig if you're bored.

Lots of other stuff to share too but all in due time. Meanwhile, thanks to the admins for maintaining this board and thanks to the members who contribute such great and useful info!

Ride Safe, Have Fun,
CrazyCarl

P.S. - No pics yet but sure to come!

Free film? Well you can hold your breath if you want, but I don't suggest doing it while you're riding!

Sounds good. When the weather gets warmer I'll be trying to stretch some legs on the V and maybe we can romp a bit. Where do you usually ride?

We usually head into the Shenandoah Valley and blast the back roads there before heading over into West VA via Rt. 33 or one of the few dirt roads that connect the states.

Sweet, sounds like the 211 to SkyDrive to 33 to Brandywine run. There are some nice shady twisties coming back on 55 in West By God Virginny.

Gotta say though I'm not a really aggressive rider. I enjoy getting my lean on but am not out to prove nothing to myself... I already got my scar from that one!

My parents live outside of Mt. Jackson Va., so It's really easy to take 211 to their place. And you know how fun 211 can be. But I really perfer the bumpy pothole dodging back roads.

Hey Carl, fancy meeting you here! It seems like you just got the DR, and now you've traded it for a Versys?

(No, I haven't got a Versys. Trying to remember that I don't need to collect the whole set, but intrigued, so I joined this forum to check it out.)

OH NO! Caught Versys red-handed!

The DR ended up not being too good for two of us over long distance and needed something a little more comfy and highway capable. The Versys had secretly peaked my interest even when I was still in China. Then on CL I say a guy wanted to trade the Versys for a modified DR so that's what I did!

Gotta say I'm pretty happy so far. The bike is nice and light, comes with full luggage, tracks like a razor, and the engine is wonderful with lots and lots of usable power. The little lady appreciates the rear seat too... it's higher (so easier to see around) and much better padded.

So far I'm a happy camper on the road but noticed some power-line trails not too far from my house and would like to get a 250 for trail riding. I miss my little bikes.
