Break In

I just got my new Versys 650. Does anyone have any information about the breaking in process? Do I really have to wait 800 km before exceeding 4000 rpms?

This sums it up pretty good:

In the end do as you please. He also has some good videos if your into youtube subs.

I will be picking up my new Versys tomorrow and plan on doing a hard break in when the snow/salt is gone!

Just ride the bike man...
Go up and down through the gears... use engine braking... It's all about working the engine. Like the video says....don't pu$$y it. Yet, don't ride like a maniac either....
That's exactly what the lead mechanic at my dealer said to me the day I picked up my new V too..

I did the break-in required by the book. It didn't take too long.

I'm also a fan of the Mototune style break in which, as you will read, does not mean "rough" "hard" or "careless" break in.

However you decide to break it in, just make sure you warm up the engine, load the piston rings positively and negatively (engine load, engine braking), and do not drone at the same speed for a long time.

Try this if all the above doesn't work.
