Nice to join the forum here after a few weeks of lurking. Bought a 2019 X 300 (non-ABS) in September; sadly at just over 300 miles I failed negotiating a corner and took a dive into a muddy lawn-like area off the side of the road. Fortunately the bike landed on something soft: me. Nothing broken on me aside from the hit to the ego and a very sore shoulder, but the bike had to go in for new fairings on the left side. Really hoping to get it back in time for a few more gorgeous October rides!
I previously was riding a Yamaha XT225, and I've learned the hard way that the extra 120 or so pounds of the Versys means significantly more momentum. I opted for non-ABS as I like riding in dirts and gravel as well; the spill has made me rethink that, but I believe an adjustment to my riding safety practices is more important than ABS.
Anyhow, very happy to join the forum and hope to be participatory once I get my baby back!
