new member, 2500 miles on a versys-x 300

I bought a 2017 versys-x 300 in March as a bike for my wife and kids to learn on. I love it. I now have 2500 miles on it, most of them mine, and despite the fact that I have two other bikes that also get ridden regularly.

Also, some mods!

Among my most successful mods so far are the givi windscreen and Shinko 804/805 tires. Both were great additions. I did some serious (and inappropriate) single-track this weekend, and although I have some minor cosmetic repairs to make, the versys-300 performed extraordinarily well.

Welcome! So you did some spirited riding? Good for you.

It's been swell, but the swelling has gone down.

Yes, it was probably a little foolhardy given the trail and my skill level. The other riders were all on KTM dual-sports. The versys held up surprisingly well, but I felt all the extra weight, and got worn out a little too quickly. Also, the kickstand safety switch is very vulnerable. At one point it got knocked and although the bike would start, it died as soon as I switched into gear. I was worried I was going to get stranded miles into a gnarly wilderness. I few good kicks got it going again, but if I were to try something so technical again I would probably put in a bypass
