Mine is a Powerlet BMW-size plug. I cut a hole in the dash, right side, and ran wires back to a Fuzeblock so it's switched with the ignition. It's convenient having the plug up front where you can see it.

If I were to do it again, I would at least consider getting a bar-mounted plug like in the photo...no cutting and I could take it off and use it on another bike if I ever sold the Versys.

it appears that they only list a lighter socket mounting bracket & you would have to come up with your own socket. wouldn't it be easier to run a tapp-lite usb power cable? it seems to be a clean & simple setup.

I have the tapp-lite USB cable on both my bikes, love it. Can run my GPS or recharge my iphone, very practical.

I just pop this into the cig socket when needed. http://www.powerlet.com/product/usb-...te-adapter/466 It's in good and tight so you don't need to worry about it working loose. I've bought cheaper brands but they were just crap....

Other places like amazon and revzilla carry them at a little cheaper price. I have 4 Cig Outlets on my bike so i can just use it on any of them...

Bought the ones Cycle Gear is selling for $9.99, and mounted it to the right of the speedo, wired thru a Fuzeblock FZ-1.

Is the 12V outlet available for the 2009? I heard that it only works on 2010 and later models.

It normally mounts behind (inside) the left cowling. Nothing special to do if you have a 2010 or later. Did you buy the relay kit that goes with it?

It's only bad if you have no skills, then you just come to the group and call for help.

Pulled the "HOT when Ign is ON" (for the 'switched' circuits) from the tail-light, and regular 12v from the battery.
