New member intro

hello from Ontario canada, been riding for many years. don't ride much anymore but started to look at the Versys and Wee as a commute bike to work 110 k/m round trip ride.

Just one question keep hearing about a vibration on the Versys, how bad is it

from down south in Texas. Vibration is a relative thing; however, the Versys isn't bad at all. In my opinion it's negligible - there is a bit but it's not offensive.

Both bikes you're considering are good, but the Versys is way more fun. Shorter wheelbase, quicker handling, and the under frame muffler makes mounting hard bags easier and results in a narrower butt. Take a look a a Wee with hard bags from the rear - it's almost 4 feet wide!

Hi from Ottawa.

Any single is going to vibrate more than a twin and a twin will vibrate more than a in line four. The exception is an unbalanced narrow angle V Twin like a Harley engine will shake like a paint shaker but they are usually put on very soft rubber mounts to compensate.

The Versys has in increase in vibration from 5-6000RPM but it is not really something that is at a bothersome level. It is not the kind of vibration that will bug you or cause your hands to go numb. I believe they also made some very slight improvements in vibration isolation in the 2010+ bikes.

My 2008 had a vibration related buzzing sound coming from the cowling. This seems to be a common issue with early bikes. It was easy to fix by putting some double sided foam tape between plastic cowling pieces where they overlapped.

You can easily ride this bike 2 hours or more at 110km/h with no aches and pains. What ever bike you end up with, I would suggest for commuting at those speeds, especially in cold weather, you look at an aftermarket touring screen which will improve wind protection.

For riding 50km in cold weather nothing will beat a heated jacket liner (not vest) and gloves for comfort (when used with an adv. tour jacket and pants). I can easily ride indefinitely at 0C and above with them. Without them you will be unable to ride very far or at any kind of speed much below 10C due to 100km/h wind chill.

Hey Jar...I switched from the suzuki gsx650F.....which was a buttery smooth inline 4...over to the 2012 Versys. Immediately I found the V to be quite rough, and vibraty(sp?,lol).............But after a few weeks I never noticed it at all
I love my Versys!

As Jay Leno said on an interview talking about the vibes on the old Triumph Bonnevilles "...the girls seemed to LIKE it..."!
