Greetings fellow Versys enthusiasts
I have just gotten myself a 2015 650 LT with 13K km on it. I got my first bike, a 2007 BMW F650 Dakar thumper, about 3.5 years ago and unfortunately it was stolen this past January. Not the best bike to do your parking lot test on and not very impressed with the local BMW service, but a fun commuter.
I have been jonesing to get back in the saddle since and was looking for something inexpensive and reliable with an upright riding position. Was leaning towards a WeeStrom, but a listing for a Versys caught my eye. Hearing it fire up put a smile on my face and taking it for a test ride widened the grin.
Bike is pretty well farkled by previous owner, but as a 6'4" 250lb 50yr old dude with less than stellar knees I am initially looking for advise from the Versys braintrust on better ergo's. Feeling kind of cramped and forced forwards. I just picked up some 2" Rox risers I will be installing soon and am looking into seat!, lower/highway pegs, windscreen, etc.
If anyone near lower mainland BC has a custom seat, I would love to check out how it feels. Might try the cheap seat mod first, but not thrilled with how it looks.
Anyhow, hope to pick up lots of maintenance/repair tips as well and share what I can.
