New X300 Member / Bought Versys-X 300 seat hard

Was not sure if by but could have taken much longer ride than the 40 miles from dealer to home on back roads. Seat needs to be fixed.

Stock seats are often terribly uncomfortable. It almost seems like motorcycle seat designers do not ever sit down. If they did they'd do a better job. I had a 2008 Yamaha V Star 650 that I could not ride for more than 1/2 an hour without taking a break. I eventually found a good seat but it took a while. I just bought a 2018 Versys 650 a few days ago. I'm hoping that the seat is okay but, I'm already planning on buying a Corbin seat for it.

Here's what I did to my V650s - you'll need to check under the seat to see IF it'll work on the 300s....

IF you raise the front of your seat (mine are raised 9/16" - co$t$ about $2.00) your butt will probably be fine. You need a piece of scrap steel w/ two 1/4" holes in it; 12 = 1/4" washers; and two 6mmx45 bolts. This mod has been around since the Versys landed in the USA back in 2008!

I've ridden THREE V650s a total of MORE than 165,000 MILES w/ the seats raised, done MANY rides in excess of 12 hours, and my butt's been FINE...!

The "seat concepts" is by far the cheapest option, other than using washers, longer bolts and a fabricated steel spacer, which raises the front of the seat to a different angle. The seats from S.C. adds padding to raise the front, giving you a larger flatter sitting area while the texture of the seat material has a custom quality look, all while using the stock base pan which fits as it should. This comes in at a price point of 1/3RD the cost of other seat offerings. Mine works great. Just finished 10 days of riding every day with no problems. 1" to 2" bar risers, also help your posture and possibly lowering the foot pegs...
