Recently back on a bike, I have purchased a new 2007 versys 650 for a reasonable price, I'm from Brisbane, Australia.
Looking forward to reading info on this forum

Sorry I didn't put any info about my charging issues as there is a lot of info already on here and was going to search it myself, but when I open the links it says I don't have permission to view them. I'm guessing it's the 48hr waiting rule.
But the battery is a few months old and I'm only getting 12.8v @ 4500rpm. I'm thinking that the Stator is the issue and I will start with testing it first.

Charging issue

I have tested the resistance of the Stator and found continuity to ground and a 2volt difference in the phase so Stator is shot, I will check out my options.

Just checking is it a good idea to replace the regulator if the Stator burns out
Any info would be appreciated

I provided a link before and depending on what you are replacing the stator with, I would suggest going with a used Polaris 4012941 regulator. If you wish I can find a good used legit one, for every 100 4012941 regulators on Ebay, 96 of them are fake, just a FYI. For a while I was posting a link for good used verified by me regulators.https://www.kawasakiversys.com/forum...ght=regulators

The 4012941 is more suited to the 2007 to 2014 Versys than the new Polaris 4016868 which is a higher output current and half the price of the 4012941. My plan is to do a install How To on the 4106868 this winter, like I said the older Polaris is more suited, however we have had one person do a how to on the 40169868 for the MK-2 Versys.

YES! The regulator is about 99% of the reason WHY your stator failed.

Stator/regulator

Just a progress update on which way I'm going with fixing the charging issue.
I'm getting the Stator rewound locally for what I think is a fair price, I have tested the original regulator /rectifier and the diodes test good. As the bike has nearly 100k kms on it and that's how long the original Stator lasted I'm not going to do the regulator modification. If the engine fails at some stage and I can get a low kms one I will do the MOD then.
Thanks heaps onewizard for the offer to find a Polaris reg, I may need help in the future to locate one.
I only joined a couple of days ago and have learned heaps off this forum.

Yes there is some very nice riding around the Glasshouse Mountains, I live near them so look forward to taking on some off the roads.
I bet there's some good riding over in NZ as well.
