My New Ride; My New Forum

Got tired of sore wrists on a '01 VFR (big grins nonetheless) and had to sell.

Missed riding and starting searching: cruiser, supermotard, SV650, 919, BMW, and...Versys.

A 2011 Versys appeared on radar: Local, 4400 miles, Baldwin seat, Krauser panniers.

Owner was super cool, one test ride and done!

First up: Oh yeah, I need a stand

Congrats on your Versys find! They're great motorcycles and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

On my first ride as a proud new Versys owner, I had to peel off down a dirt road to feel its 'versatility'.

Have to admit, felt like I was driving on ice and quickly aborted.

Now the daunting tasks of:
- selecting a stand (harbor freight budget vs Pit Bull vs somewhere-in-between)
- replacing OEM tires (90/10 rear; more aggressive front?)
- preparing for the air filter cleaning (couple of thousand miles to go and watch the AMC video a couple of thousand times)

Trackside Rear Paddock Stand

Would the Trackside Rear Paddock Stand (MFG#SL7R) be a viable option?

It looks like the SL17R should work fine. Buy local where you can return it if it doesn't.

and tire pressure makes a big difference. I sometimes drop pressure if I am going to be on long stretches of dirt road, even with a more aggressive tire. on pavement if the front is low it will have a tendency to oversteer and fall into corners, even with street tires. I have 2 sets of wheels too. one set with TKCs the other with road tires. BTW, Ninja wheels fit, and are relatively cheap. rotors vary though & may need to be changed

if I'm answering your question I assume the basic points have been addressed, such as: did you do a compression test? is it still on fire?

Interference with a fender I decided not to trim -- returned and picked up the Harbor Freight stand. Add flange bolts/nuts and we have lift-off...
