Hello everyone, I've been lurking around on and off over the past few years and have finally decided now is the right time to try out a Versys. The basic reasons are ergos, handling and comfort for me. I'm 48 (195lbs) and done with sport bikes and large displacement machines (for now?) that cost too much to insure for the amount of riding I do now.

Purchased the bike yesterday from a Kawasaki dealer who took it on trade, a one owner machine with 69,000km/s (43k miles) that was cared for by a paramedic that used it mostly for commuting to and from work so I'm not afraid of the mileage at all, especially after doing my resarch on this fantastic forum. It's a '13 Versys 650CD in Metallic Magnesium Gray, very well maintained and LOTS of accessories that were added by the previous owner including almost new Michelin PR4's. Looking forward to riding, meeting some of you and learning as much as I can along the way.

Cheers,
Tom

Ya got yourself a great bike and I'm sure you'll be able to add another 69,000 km's on her! What were you riding before? Just interested as there's many (like thineself!) that have gone from larger to smaller. I got up to an 1800cc but since going to the 600-700 cc bikes I don't know what the heck I was ever thinking on those monsters!

Thanks Devilsfan, Leafs fan here! Lol. Iíve had multiple Honda V65ís, Yamaha FJís; a Ducati Multistrada 1200, Monster 1200, Ninja 1000, Honda CBF1000.. all good and fun just too much bike and it seemed hard to kick the habit. I took a year off and did some soul searching and glad I did!

I got ya! I've always had the cruiser bikes so switching to an ADV-type took me some time to get used to. I think you'll enjoy the Versys. It's a smooth-runner, it offers a little bit of everything and, for the 650, it's got some pep to it. I can't comment on all of those lightning-speed bikes you've owned but if you just want to have good, comfortable days of riding the Versys will cover that!

Nice looking and well accessorized bike. When I glanced at the first photo I thought you managed to get a boat thrown in on the deal too. That would have been great. Still, you got a nice selection of accessories and that's good. Enjoy and ride safely!

I went the same route this year. My first few bikes were 650cc (KLR and Vstrom) then I went to a Tiger 1050 and a Stelvio NTX (1150) and back to 650. The Stelvio actually was very similar in performance to the Versys but weighed 200 lbs more. (90 ish hp on dyno).

As fun as the 1000cc bikes are I felt like I was paying for half an engine I didn't use 90% of the time. The V650 goes just as fast as I did before when I'm using 100% of the engine(=fun) and costs less in fuel/insurance/tires/chains etc. Sweet handling bike too with really decent suspension and brakes for the money.

I'm just south of you I think other side of the river.

Sounds very similar Lee, I caught myself a few times recently when I was searching looking for litre plus bikes. This is my first 650 and first parallel twin as well. Looking forward to the cheap insurance payments and also not having an going bike loan!

Hi, I am north of you a bit near Barry's Bay. I have a 2018 SE (Green One). I ride a lot if you want to get out sometime. NY, Vermont and New Hampshire are great this time of year.

I would love to ride that area sometime! Last trip was to Vermont however by car sadly. Gorgeous roads and scenery.
