Greetings from Tehran, Iran

Howdy,
I'm a new owner of a 2017 Versus-X from Tehran, Iran. I've been riding for 4 years and this is my second bike. We didn't have many options for travel and ADV class motorcycles in Iran and when Kawasaki introduced Versys-X in Iran ( 250cc version because we have a limitation on engine size ) I jumped on that opportunity and signed up to get one. after a year of waiting, I finally got my bike two weeks ago.
I have traveled over 23000 Km by my previous bike which was a single 250 Korean Daelim VJF. I love motorcycle touring.

I am so excited to be a part and a contributing member of this community.

See you around,
Pouria

Welcome,
I regret that our politicians (in both countries) seem to be intent on an adversarial relationship. You have an old and venerated civilization. Many Americans hold no ill will toward the Iranian people. I hope you will be well received here as a fellow rider.

I am curious about the 250 cc limit. Is that limitation for all motorcycles there or for just your situation.

Welcome to the forum

ya mon.... welcome. tell us about your bike... is it a version of the Versys 300? pictures???

edit.... I just looked it up on the net. lookin' good. tell us about it

if I'm answering your question I assume the basic points have been addressed, such as: did you do a compression test? is it still on fire?

Hi Dave,
Yeah. thanks to Internet it is much easier now to get accurate info about other countries and bypass the intrinsic bias of media and news outlets. Politics...thats bad. but believe me majority of Iranians are U.S No. 1 fan in the Middle East I have always admired the spirit of American way of life and the country in general. let's hope 4 decades of bitter relations comes to an end soon.

Hi Randy,
so the motorcycle engine limitations in Iran is a crazy story. we used to be free to ride all sizes of bikes but almost 20 years ago, a political assassination took place and the assassins used 1000cc bikes to escape away. since then the government put a cap on engine sizes and now we are limited to 250cc, max 2 cylinder bikes. still, you can purchase any kind of bike you like but you can't ride it with a number plate and it is illegal to ride it on the streets, you'll be given a permit to ride it on weekends on certain racing tracks... I know it is crazy and stupid.
but this regulation is applied to Iranians only so if you are a tourist riding your bike through Iran you won't have a problem. you just need your carnet du passage and documents and you'll be good to tour in Iran as a lot of other foreigners have done motorcycle tours in Iran. search for Lois Pryce, she rode through Iran on a solo motorcycle trip.

Hi! thank you very much! as I explained to Dave, the politics and messages from Iranian politicians don't represent people's opinion about other countries so I really appreciate you welcoming me here! best wishes.

Hi Maher, Thank man. you know we speak Persian in Iran although I know a lot of people think because we are in the Middle East we speak Arabic like other Arab countries around the gulf. but we speak Persian so we say Dorood = Hello , in Persian.

thanks again, see you around

Hi, Well Kawasaki offers two version of Versys-X , 300cc Version for Europe and North America and 250cc Version for Malaysia, Indonesia, Iran and other parts of Asia and (I think) Brazil and South America. essentially only the engine is different everything else is the same. we also get a different color that I think is not offered in U.S
this is the color offered here in Iran (and the color of my Versys)
