Stepping into the 21st Century

Hey everyone!

Happy to join after doing lots of research and finally pulling the trigger on a 2015 Versys 650 LT!

I'm coming from a Dr650 and this bike feels like a giant leap into the future!
I bought it yesterday, and have put about 100 miles on it so far, enough to see what needs changing!
I've pulled the clutch cables and throttle cables, lubing them with dry silicone, adjusting the slack out of the throttle cables which was the problem for some intense jerky/On-Off reaction in the throttle, and am trying to hold back from modding this bike like I did the DR, mainly for financial reasons! If only the following for the Versys was that of the DR!

Looking forward to joining the conversation and thanks already for helping me make up my mind!

I indeed like the white one's best. If that low-end snap gets to bothering you (or making you random-wheelie too much) you can switch to a 16T front sprocket and dial that out of your ride experience, and it also lowers your top end or highway RPM by 500 RPM's, just a thought.

Nice to have you along. Ride it safe!

I resolved the jerky throttle by adjusting the cables....There was way too much slack on both cables, and the lock nut on the hand control was backed off all the way, lucky it was a quick fix! Tightening up the cables makes it much smoother and tolerable, but now I notice my chain slack I love buying bikes and working out the kinks, gives me more appreciation for the ride! Unfortunately my hydraulic floor jack won't work with the versys so I'm off to find some affordable swingarm/fork stands. Bought a new tire for the rear, and will service the chain then!

Looking for some good crash bars, thinking about the Fehling from Germany, seem to give some good lower end protection! Anyone here sporting them on your 3rd gen Versys 650?

Would that also drop the engine buzz to a lower RPM? It certainly is a vibey engine in the 4500/6000K range, much more than the DR, but its a fair trade off and workable in my opinion!
