Hi Guys

Well I am a Brit living in France.
I for years had Goldwings,BM's and other touring stuff. On reaching the big 60 started to feel the mass of the wing getting a bit too much for me,traded down for a mint 2000 BMW R1100RT which had been fine.Dropped it 3 months ago at walking pace, very little damage to me or the bike. The damage was done to me trying to pick it up!!
Was in a rural part of France and she was down nose first,so no chance to pick her up using the technique I had learnt to pick up sleeping wings!!
No one around so I gave it a go,result detached bicep and rotator cuff damage to shoulder.
The 2 months in a sling gave plenty of time for reflection, silly old fool needs something lighter.Having looked at the options I liked the look of the Versys so lingered on the Uk site for a while and when well enough rode the BM back to UK and sold it to finance 07 Black MK1. Luckily it came with luggage, heated grips and handguards but no hugger and fender extender which I fitted before returning to France.
Absolutely love this bike, lives up to it's name, does all I want. When I bought only had 3003 miles now has 5000 .Came across your site and love it so here I am,thanks for having me.

Sorry, that's howdy from the People's Republic of Texas. At the respected age of the big 60 plus 7, I'm working hard to train my Versys to pick itself up should it ever fall over. Don't know how things are progressing because I've not tossed it down yet, but I think I'm getting through to it.

thats G'day from Aussie land. I dropped mine onto concrete the day after I fitted my BarkBusters. Glad I had them on. Small mark on the plastic hand guard is all the damage. I haven't told anyone about it so shhhh

Dropping the V!!

Well thanks so much for the warm welcome.
I will try my best not to drop the V and if I do for sure will wait till anyone?? comes along to help me up.
I am 63 but a pretty fit guy but the BM incident really made me realise the brain is still willing but maybe the body not quite so.The healing process on the shoulder is pretty slow and with the onset of arthritis the medics say may never be perfect again. The upside is the V seems to give me a real comfortable riding position and the 10 hour ride home made me realise this is probably the only bike I shall need now.
