Short time lurker

Hey Guys,

I've been eyeing the Versys since a friend told me about them earlier this year. A couple weeks back I was looking to get a DRZ400SM but I needed to get street tires, I was about a day from buying one when my brother pointed out I could get a different bike for what I was going to pay.
Lo and behold I discovered I could afford a Versys! After some more searching I came upon this thread and after much harassment I met up with him today, one long test ride later it was mine

I've been riding for about 4 months, my other bike is a '82 Yamaha XJ750J Maxim that I spend my spare time working on. I'll probably spend all my spare time riding my Versys now

I had a DRZ SM two bikes ago which I really liked until it got stolen but the Versys is everything I loved about it plus everything I wished the DRZ had like more power, larger fuel capacity, etc.
I think you made a very good decision.

That's reassuring, I'd been reading similar reports. I still want to get a SuperMoto of some kinda in the future but I doubt I'll be hurting for one while I've got my Versys!

+1 for sure! I also came from a DRZ-400SM (which, coincidentally, was also stolen) and agree completely with that assessment. The Versys is easily as nimble and agile as the Z400, but doesn't find itself completely out of place on the highway. Tank range, a 6th gear, all great reasons to go for the Versys. Enjoy!

You managed to snag the best - and fastest - Color! Well done.

Seems every vehicle I own, except one, is red. VW Sportwagen TDI, Fiat Abarth, Triumph TR6, Verysys, and Suzuki S40 Boulevard. I wonder what that might signify? I like red?

and congrats on your new V. It looks like you got a good deal. Now, it's time to ride while we are still having summer here in the north-wet. I know the nights are cool, but the days have been great for this time of year. Frog

Thanks guys! I went on a group ride last weekend and everyone was asking about my bike I've been riding everyday this week and have been loving it, just started raining so I'm grounded for the weekend

Ashex, with the past almost 3 months with only .03 or .07 in of rain, be real careful out there. ANY rain will put all of the oil right on top of the surface of the road and make it slicker that owl poop. I grounded myself for the next couple of days and used my truck to attend the vintage meeting in Mt. Vernon. I sure hated it when I was running in the dry parts, but the wet parts were nasty. Frog

I went for a short ride earlier today, fortunately it had only rained early morning so was pretty dry out. I don't think I'll be doing much more riding though until we've had a bit more rain to wash away the oil that's coming up

I'm from a 750 shadow and klx 250 back ground and I love the V! My first trip over 100 miles with my improved seat was like heaven!

Congrats!
