New member from Australia

Hey there,

I recently picked up a 2007 Versys as a (big) upgrade from my Suzuki Across. What it lacks in on-bike storage it makes up for in power and off-road stability (the Across really didn't like 4wd trails very much).

It is my commuter, but also a key source of fun and adventure. I am pretty much set up to strap on a few bags and some kit and head off camping and/or rock climbing for a weekend with 20mins notice.

I signed up here to find out more about adventure and touring mods for the bike, plus learn a lot more about self-servicing, do's and don'ts and to share any experiences I have that might be interesting or helpful to others.

Cheers,

Comic

Welcome Comic, if you like adventure there is a thread somewhere about a versys riding on the highest motorised road in the world at 18,000 feet.

Hi Comic, I've taken my V on a few rock climbing trips as well. I think all the obviousengine/control protection options are a good idea for the bush trails, plus a change of tyres if you are doing lots of dirt. I have engine and hand guards fitted, and a bash plate is on its way. Still to do are a radiator guard and a front fender extender. I am staying with road tyres as 99% of my riding is on tarmac.

aboard. I think you will find lots of answers to your questions while trolling around the forum using the search function. If not, ask some questions. Someone is always willing to assist. Enjoy your Versys.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. Thanks to Begbiie for the suggestions on modifications, I will definitely be installing a bash plate and looking into other protection options. I plan to spend the majority of my time on tarmac, so I think tyre options will have to be something I look into a bit more closely.

Hi Comic,

Garry here from Coffs Harbour, bought my new V 2 weeks ago. Loving it apart from the wind noise got to get a higher screen or something.
