Vaidaman joins Versys Forum: Hello, all!

Hello, fellow Versys riders! This is my first posting.
After reading reviews and test-riding the bike, I bought a 2012 Versys 650 about three months ago, and I'm falling more in love with it every day. Of course I loved right away its speed, torque early and middle, and the handling (esp since my previous bike was a '05 Honda Shadow 750). I also love the "gentleman's" riding position and the (to me) very comfortable stock seat. I even love the weird, almost-ugly anime styling (since all that plastic saved me a lot of money when I dropped the bike trying to do a u-turn where it wasn't humanly possible to do one). A couple days ago I softened the shocks front and rear, so I love the road-hugging comfortable ride. And today with my pal Paul's guidance and tools and hoisting of the bike, I installed Speedy's lowering kit (since I'm only 5'6" and since so many of you spoke highly of the kit), so I love the height of the bike now that I can get both feet flat on the ground.
I have been reading the Forum since I owned the bike, learning from you all about the lowering kit, luggage options, and so many other topics. It's so cool to join the Forum and make my first posting.
Anyway, I'm glad to be here and look forward to meeting you.

Yeah, the only thing about the seat that throws me a little (not literally, thank God!) is that even a mildly sudden stop sends me sliding forward. I am still developing the habit of gripping the padded tank with my knees and sort of digging in my heels to prevent the slide.
Do you have any experience with the slide?

Slide not a big problem for me as I used my legs to hold, most times i ride with balls of feet on footpegs and used my knees which works fine for me road or track.
