Talking New Versys owner-Aspiring ADV dude

Hey there Wes here ...just hit 1500 miles on my Versys, which also happens to be my first street bike. I have joined the forum to hopefully gain some experience and tips on making my machine the best it can be. This is my first "forum" ever to be part of so looking forward to getting in the mix! My first question is in regards to the oil ......Whats everyone using ? synthetic? conventional? what sort of intervals (aside from the manual) are folks electing to use? Also I would love to know what sort of performance upgrades are worth the investment and experienced feedback. Thanks guys look forward to learning tons!

Not sure if these qualify as performance upgrades but you can make the Versys low side and drop damage resistant with engine bars (either SW-Motech or Givi) and hand guards. They will pay for themselves.

I use pretty much the cheapest JASO-MA synthetic oil I can find which right now is Shell Rotella and change it once a year. I drive about 10,000 km/6000 miles a year.
