KY V noob

Hey guys, I'm a noob to the Versys, actually don't have one yet but am on the look for a used one after the new year. Last two bikes I've had were an 06 BMW F650GS and a 88 Concours. Sold the former and wrecked the latter, but I'm ready to climb back on a horse soon. I'll be checking the classifieds ocassionally to see whats available.

Do any of the Versys come with ABS? Whats the add on for it if you buy new?

GH,

No ABS in North America. If we could get it I would imagine it'd be a $500-1000 premium.

I'd have gone with ABS given the choice.

BTW, welcome.

Welcome!

Intellectually, I'd love the OEMs to offer ABS here in the states on more models. However, in reality, it's not economically viable. People say they want ABS, then they buy the model w/o ABS to add exhaust, luggage, windscreen, GPS and on and on. I think they buy more ABS in Europe because they get a substantial insurance discount and the option pays for itself over time.

I'm cheap. Give me regular brakes and I'll add high-friction pads and good tires when the stockers wear out. That should be fine for me.
