changing air filter

Has anyone changed their air filter themselves, and if so, can someone briefly describe the process?

I did it in my 2008 Versys, I had to remove the fairings and remove the tank, this is the hardest part because you have to be careful when disconnecting the cables from it.

Andy cam gave me useful information and also a funny moment listening to him

It's a good idea to mention the year of your V when you ask a question like that. I've changed mine twice on MY Gen 3. Once w/ an OEM filter, second time for an aftermarket one.

I think it'll be SOMEWHERE in this thread:

Look in the How To thread at the top under stickies, up to 2015, which I think is the same as 2017.

Cool Air filter change video Versys 650 MY 2015 new model

I almost did it. Before 30 000 km (18600 miles) the Kawa service did the maintenance. At this time I wanted to use the good weather for DIY air filter change. I could not find a video about the new Versys, so I made one myself. At the end I decided the old filter is good for another 6000km (3700 miles).

Thank you so much for this! I can see that I should bring it to the dealer for the service, as I don't care to deal with all that hassle haha!
