The 650 will handle 2-up well. But the 1000 handles it better... I've had both bikes. But I'm a big guy close to 300lbs with a small girlfriend less than 120lbs...

I've ridden both my Gen 1 V650s as well as my Gen 3 650 quite a few miles (OVER 2,000 miles I'd estimate) w/ a passenger weighing around 120# PLUS ATGATT. NO problems at all!

Thanks for the feed back. I will be riding solo 90% of the time. The other 10 the wife will be with me. Just want to make sure the 650 will be capable of 2 up riding,

I love both bikes but if i had to choose one tomorrow for me it would be the 1000. Because of the extra power being a heavy guy. The 650 wins in the mileage game I got about 48mpg city & about 54 hwy out of it and the 1000 i get about 40 city & Hwy about 46.
Did less to the 1000 to make it more comfortable to me the 650 the seat had to go. The seat on the 1000 is okay. Heavy engine braking on the 650. The transmission and slipper clutch on the 1000 is fantastic smooth as silk. For me the 1000 is easier to manuever at slow speeds
