Potential Versys buyer...

Hey everyone! I'm thinking about buying a new Versys in the near future...can any of you guys and gals fill me in on the plus and minus's of the Versys?

I was riding a VTX 1800 for the last 8 years and I'm looking to go get away from the heavy cruisers....

Any help would be appreciated.

The only negative I have to say about the Versys is that I am getting tired of lubing and adjusting the chain. 15,400 miles in just over a year. Remembering to lube it every night when on a tour after setting up camp is a PTA.

Other than that the bike has been great and I just got back from a 7000 mile ride through 15 states and altitudes ranging from 300 feet to 11,000 feet. Also many miles at 90 mph on two lane roads. Even one 818 mile day thrown in for good measure.

The bike is a hoot to ride and can weave around traffic, absorb bumps, and do light off road duty very well.

The original seat is known to cause you to slide forward and rack your jewelry. That might be an issue mr diggler.

Well you came to the right place, as you can see in my signature I also rode a 2005 vtx 1300. Your 1800 was heavier but I was getting tired of the cruiser as well. I've always rode cruisers but decided it was time for a change to something fun, not that the vtx wasn't fun..I wanted to lite up some curves

I test rode a Vstrom and a Versys, hands down I was hooked on the Versys..It's lite and got a lot of power and just a blast to ride, smooth as silk compared to a vtwin..Try to test ride one if you can but you want be disappointed.

For the price, hands down it's a winner in my book.

Sold 2005 honda vtx 1300 bought an '09 versys
