Another new Versys owner

I finally got sick of my 05 DL1000 and bought a Versys yesterday. I use my bike 95% for commuting in town and I hope this bike will do well. However, compared to the Strom, the seat is quite uncomfortable and I will be posting for advice on them just as soon as I get in my two introductory posts

Welcome Paul, you should find the little V a lot more fun in town riding and it may even suprise you on the open road.

Thanks guys. Yeah kiwi, I noticed even on a brief, very windy, blowing sand at beach kind of ride last night that it is far more flickable than the Strom and I think once I get it broken in, the powerband will be fine. I never needed the HP from the Strom...well, not that often anyway

Welcome.
My bike right before the Versys was a Wee Strom and switching to the V was one of my better moves in a while. It is a lot more flickable and agile for commuting while still plenty of power for the highway when needed.

Welcome Paul!

I'm in SF too and just bought my 2011 Versys in March. I was considering the Wee too, but much of my riding is in the city and commutes to the peninsula and east bay. The Versys is fantastic! I love it in the city, has plenty of power, nice and nimble, great on the twisties, and does just fine for my freeway commutes. It's perfect for my needs.

I am just now realizing that the seat gets a bit uncomfortable. I think I'm going the Seat Concepts route. It's seems to be an affordable and rather comfortable option.

Cheers,
BaileyMan

Hey BaileyMan, yeah, having read the posts I think I will go the Seat Concepts route as well. But I'm adjusting to the stock seat and will probably wait a bit to sort out priorities. I rode 400 miles this weekend, trying to get past the break-in, and loved every minute of it...particularly the minutes today on Trinity/Dry Creek/Mt. Veeder Roads without a single cage in front of me, not one! Even keeping it below 5k rpm, it was a pretty quick sequence.

You don't park your bike on Pacific near Sansome, do you? There occasionally is a yellow Versys there that got me hooked on the design. To be 100% honest I didn't love the original, but IMHO the '10 redesign (especially in yellow) is killer and absolutely a match for my old Monster.

Cheers, PD

Just sold my '05 DL1000 just over two weeks ago. Looking at an '08 Versys next week with 7k on the odo. Hoping it will be mine one day soon.

Yeah, I would have preferred to buy a used Versys but they are very hard to find. No shortage of old DL1000's Oddly though, the SF dealer where I bought it (Kaw/Suz/Yam) was going out of business, and they told me they hadn't sold a single one this year, which I find hard to believe. The bike is practically made for SF streets!
