RE: Capn Kirk

Hey Kirk! Our corporate headquarters is actually located in Smithfield, VA. Maybe I'll get a wild hair and ride it up there next time I have to "report" lol and we can have a beer! Thanks for the welcome!

I am 5 hours from Smithfield. I am in Christiansburg, very close to Virginia Tech. I head down into Mt Airy / Cana area quite a bit. Where are you?

Nice Kiwi! lol! Looks like I'll be getting a lowering kit, took it a few miles today and at the first stop light, doing the tippie toe shuffle, one of my hips cramped up, lol, I thought I was going to drop the darn thing! Not cool! :-)

Picture!

This is when I got back to work with the bike still on my truck. The towel was stuck in there to keep the strap buckle from banging the tank while I drove. Ain't she perty? lol

Welcome from the equator, thousands of miles away.

I've visited a buddy of mine in Charlotte when he was working there back in '99. Went fishing at a pier with a few college friends while he was at work. I didn't fish much, slept on a bench for 3 whole hours.....guess fishing wasn't in my game.

My other memories of NC was also a trip on another buddy's car while 2 other friends were U-hauling in a truck. He was moving from Bama to NC, so we were the movers. The U-haul truck was doing 80mph at one time, and then suddenly pulled out at a travel stop, driver seen running towards the rest room for that major dump session. LOL! Couldn't remember much otherwise as we arrived early in the morning, took a long nap, woke up a few hours later and headed back to Bama.

I'm trying to get back to western North Carolina sometime later this year. I did visit the eastern side once, coming back from Williamsburg. Would like to see the coast sometime.

I installed the lowering kit and the flatfoot kickstand adapter about 3 weeks after buying mine. No regrets. Bike fits me like a glove now!! When you do, check your chain slack. Mine tightened up quite a bit.

Great tip Kirk, I probably wouldn't have even thought about that! I'm 5'7 so I'm hoping the kit will be enough for me to flat foot it. Sure don't want to buy a 500 dollar friggin seat, lol!

I also lowered the front. Here is how I did it but to use my method, you need a front stand that uses the pin, not the forks to lift.

BTW, Speedy has a great reputation here. Fast shipper and his parts are top notch. Don't hesitate to order from him.

Again, great advice! I've actually already ordered the lowering kit and since I don't have a triple tree lift, will have to do it the other way. I did look at those stands though and for 100 bucks or so, it might be something I invest in.

Most here recommend shortening the kickstand if you lower the bike. If you don't, the bike does not lean enough on the kickstand and can more easily be blown or knocked over. The only reason I mention this is you have not mentioned getting a shorter kickstand or using Speedy's Flatfoot for lowering.

Welcome. Gonna be in Wilson, NC to visit my parents next month. Then on to Emerald Isle to see my sister and new nephew.

Taking the minivan and family though.
