Noob here. Looking at a new 2009

I currently have a KLR650 and a TL1000S Suzuki. There is a new 2009 Versys at the dealers for 4995.00 Ive heard good things about these bikes and used to own a SV650 so the power would be about the same. Is there any reason I shouldn't buy it?? Looks like a great bike for all around fun. I'll probably sell the KLR. It's a little too tall and vibrates a little too much for my taste. help me make a decision! dave

from Buffalo, NY!

You're asking the wrong crowd if you want impartial advice . 5 grand for a brand new bike?? Do it, you won't be sorry.

Sounds like a great price. My used one with 3K miles was $4,400.

You might want to find out if the dealer wants to charge $100's for assembly/prep/tire-sealant, or if it is that price plus tx/tags.

No kidding, they want to tack on another 500.00 for transport, set up and the like! Still, It's calling to me. If they'll give me a decent price for the KLR I'll probably buy it.

You might want to check here for retail/trade in values of your current ride: http://www.kbb.com/motorcycle/

You might want to list your current ride on craigslist and cycletrader and see what offers you get.

Many of us have found that leaving accessories on a bike we're selling doesn't pay, and that is it worth the effort to remove them and sell them on a forum for that model bike or on eBay.

I bought a new '09 leftover, and it was well discounted. That made it even more attractive because I was getting a great bike at a very affordable cost. Your's is discounted even better, so yeah, I say go for it!
