Smile $500 Deposit on a 2011 Versys

This has been an exciting day for me. I stopped riding in 1987. I had been considering a Vulcan, or a Concours 14. Both were out of my wife's price range. I took the opportunity to go and test ride a couple of Versys. The 2011 and a used 2009 Versys with 1800 miles. The dealer did the right thing and suggested I ride the 2011. It was smooth with little buzz even though I had a helmet with no face shield. I had a KZ650 that I rode cross country. The Versys was as smooth as I remember the KZ650. I am concerned about the wind load with only the small windshield. I rode the 2009 that had a Givi windshield. There was considerable buzz on that machine. The 2009 tended to want to turn to the right. I had to keep constant pressure on the right handgrip. Needless to say had I rode the 2009 I would not have been impressed with the V. However, I decided to purchase the 2011 V.

Now to finish the deal.

Most handling issues are solved with new tires the stock ones are terrible and they feel like there gonna slide out from under neath you sometimes. The buzzing can be several things. There's a thread that says its in the instrument cluster and how to fix it.

So, I guess your wife is not planning to ride with you? If she was planning on it you would have ended up with the Concours or the Vulcan since they have passenger accomodations. The Versys passenger seat is great for strapping down extra gear and for a passenger who knows no different.

Congrats on the Versys. Definitely one of the easiest to ride bikes I have ever owned.
