Joining the Club

Well i finally bit the Bullet and traded my '03 Voyager XII for and '08 Blue Versys. I've been riding for 21 yrs and presently have an '03 KLR 650 which will probably become my Son's travel bike next summer. I have seen on this sight references to how much you should pay for a used Versys??? I, learning first hand with my Voyager will advise to keeping the market strong for these Bikes. If they are as good as all the reviews they should, but, for an example. The Voyager cost $26,000 cdn in '03. I paid $12,000 1 1/2 yrs later and was lucky to get a straight across trade for a Versys in '08. To me that is Robbery of a Beautiful bike (it is MINT SHOWROOM! Condition)but, was way more cleaning after a ride than I cared for and the "Queen" doesn't like to ride that often to warant the Luxo Liner. I wil be getting it next Tuesday, so, there is going to be a couple of sleepless nights I'm sure! So when I get it I will finish registering and submit some pics of my New Girl! I hope I didn't come across too negative, regarding my trade in, but, I don't understand who or what dictates the trade in value of a Bike and have never been able to. Oh! Well! I'm a "V" owner NOW!

Thanks KUDZOO! I've LOVED every Kawi I've owned so far ('83 GPZ 750, '03 KLR 650, '03 Voyager XII). My KLR is Farkled up and Looking forward to Farkleing this one too! Voyager was an awesome Bike, just too much responsability with all the mass......and Cleaning! I think this is exactly what I would have bought instead of the KLR though if it would have been out at the time. And if it is as dependable as "Sally" is and has been, she'll be in the Garage for a long time.

Living in Dallas Texas I have just about year round riding and I feel sorry for you guys up there with all the snow and ice. I guess it's what you get used to, but I lived in Colorado for 6 years and it wouldn't bother me to never see snow again. Anyway, welcome to the forum and you'll find a lot of good info on here.

If any of you Canadians ever get down to Dallas, give me a shout and I'll fill you up with the best BBQ in the world.

Take care my Northern fiends.

Hey Thanks a Bunch! Dallasdon. Same goes for you fellas down there. I do live in the flat prairie, but, 1 1/2hrs in three directions are some pretty cool International historic sights. Dinosaurs and Native history and the Rocky Mountains are just a couple hrs to the West as well. Not to mention that growing up with all this "Alberta Beef" we can muster up a little BBQ ourselves. I don't think our cookin' is as HOT as yours though. If you are ever in this area with your "V" or KLR or whatever you happen to be on that day, get in touch. I have a Garage that is yours for repairs if needed as well. I still have to get the sign for the door though "DOGS OK" "BEWARE OF WIFE". let me know a couple days in advance and I might just be able to swing a ride somewhere. As for the Cold and Snow, we can get a 30 C change in one day with a Chinook blowing through. Have ridden Christmas day a few times, albeit carefully! Thanks for the Welcome and I'm sure you'll see the grin when I get the Boy to take the first Picture.

Hey Buckthebushman, Well the ole girl cleans up real well .....LOL ! and im sure youy will have a blast on your just i have had on mine . Yes i have seen a few BBQ Steaks as i used to be a beef Producer myself & its hard to beat a good Alberta Steak ,mmmmmmmmm
Ya the foothills are great as i get tired of the flat paraire around here so an escape out to the rockys is always looked forward to. One of my favorite runs is bragg creek to long view then up through highwood pass in the kaninaskis country. We will have to hook up next spring summer for a scoot as i think our days are cool and numbered here !!

That's an awesome daytrip through there! And that is a yes! on next spring. Woke up to Rain/Snow mix this morning. Bike should be ready by Noon! and the clouds broke about 09:00. Only +8C, but, I could still be hard to get ahold of this afternoon!
