New Guy from Winterpeg Canada

Hi

I got a 2009 blue Versys with 5000 kilometers about a month ago and have been lurking around the site. Thought I should introduce myself. Love the bike.

The bike came with a lowering kit installed and rode it that way for awhile but decided to remove it and try the bike as it was intended. Although I have a short inseam 33 inches does not scare me. I think I like the extra height.

I have been riding for over 35 years (in my mid 50s) and was supprised I like this bike as much as I do. I have had many different types of bikes over the years and even tried the Harley thing. Not my cup of tea. The Harley feels like an old stationary engine powered wheel barrow compared to the Versys. Sorry if I offended those of you that like Harley. I still have the Sporty Custom but it will be up for sale come spring time. Heck even my girlfriend prefers the Versys.

Great site and will try to post a picture in member rides when I get home in a day or two. Ride safe.

ps. It was -4 celcius when I rode to work this morning. I was not clenching my teeth. That was an ear to ear grin on my face.

It's not going to work that bothers me, it's the eight hour wait to go riding.

Jim, from ON. Good to hear you like the Versys, as most do here.
I picked up a good balaclava and warm gear to allow me lots of fall riding.
Well worth it.imo. Didn't have the proper gear in my younger years of riding
and am paying the price now with a little arthritis in my hands and shoulders.
Like you, even chilly temps. can't wipe the grin off my face.
Lots of info here and a great bunch of contributors. If you can't find it in a search, just ask for what you need.

Welcome from an ex pegger. City sure has changed since I moved out in '92. You'll love the bike. Btw, it's going to be close to your temp on my ride home from work this morning. ;-)

Falling down is your bodies way of saying you just screwed up.

Thanks for the welcome folks. Great site.

They are calling for snow on Saturday so need to get a few quick rides in before then.

"cuff" I plan on getting out your way next summer. I have riden the mountains a few times but only made it to the coast twice. I seem to just run huge circles through the mountains and figure stay away from the population. You live in a great area. I spent a few weeks in Sardis in the mid 80s. Was a willing patron of some of Chilliwack watering holes back them. Fond memories.

Ride safe.

It's not going to work that bothers me, it's the eight hour wait to go riding.

Welcome from another Winnipeg expat. Grew in Charleswood, but BC is home now. Welcome to the board.

Good to have another thick skinned Manitoban in the forum! I'm riding an orange V in Steinbach. Gotta love the -5 rides!! I think it's time to invest in a heated vest.

Well a few things have changed out this way as well. The one thing that hasn't is the watering holes and the roads. Both will do in a pinch.
