2010 and 2011 Versys-Origin of Manufacturer

Are all of the New Generation Kawasaki Versys (2010-2011) Made In Thailand ? Are there any that are Made in Japan ? Funny how the VIN # began with a J but it said Made in Thailand. If anyone out there has these model years 2010 and 2011 can you please check your bike and post where it was manufactured. I am currently in the market for a new Versys and would like a Made in Japan Model. Thanks.

I remember when "Made in Japan" was met with the same comments "Made in China" are met with today. If the Japanese are managing those factories does it matter where the bikes are assembled? More japanese cars are made in the USA than American cars.

Well it matters to me. If I buy an American Car I want it built in the USA, If I buy a Japanese Bike I want it built in Japan. Kawasaki is building bikes in Thailand for half the cost but the price remains the same if not higher. If the price dropped significantly I would "maybe" consider it otherwise they can keep it. Look what happened to Hyundai after they decided to build them in the USA. Prices are sky high due to union labor. We build Jap and Korean cars while Canadians and Mexicans build American Cars. What the hell is going on with World ??????

MADE IN JAPAN is MADE IN JAPAN just like MADE IN CHINA is MADE IN CHINA always was and alway will be. But when we have American products that were MADE IN USA at one time saying MADE IN CHINA, Japanese products that were once MADE IN JAPAN saying MADE IN THAILAND, so on and so forth I think that is a problem. Would you spend you hard earned money on a BMW that was made in CHINA ? I wouldn't. If I wanted that I would buy a chinese bike for the price of a chinese bike. I but Japanese bikes for being Japan made not Thailand Made. Ducati is sticking to their guns and not selling out like some others after all that is a great selling point-Buy a REAL ITALIAN BIKE-MADE IN ITALIA !!!!!!!!

Now you know the reason I ride a made in the USA Harley. American quality through and through. Except for the Showa Shocks. The electronics, wiring harness, Brembo brakes, Etc., Etc.

If I understood correctly. When Goldwings were made stateside, they contained more American and Canadian made parts than the Harley touring bikes. This is a statement that I can NOT prove!

A friend was touring the Tomahawk Wi. plant and asked an employee what was in all the boxes marked Made in Japan. He received the answer. "oh you did not see those"

True story!

Ride Safe!

edited to add: when you lift the hood on my Jeep Wrangler. The first thing you see is the word "Bosch"

Ride em if ya got em!

Harley has been putting Japanese components on their bikes for years now. That is one reason why they are halfway descent bike these days even though I would never buy one.

If HARLEY DAVIDSON made a plane, would you board on it ? Hell NO !!!!!!!

FACT: 90% of all Harley Davidsons ever built are still out on the road today. The other 10% made it home.......... LOL.....

07, 08, and 09 were built in Japan. I think the 2010 was also built in Japan but I am not sure that is why I am asking. All of the 2011's I have seen so far say MADE IN THAILAND.

I believe that the 2008 and on KLR650's are built, put together, in Thailand.

Not that it really matters, but how do you find out where your Versys was built anyway ? I never saw the box mine came in.

Good luck exploring the infinite abyss
