It begins!!

I'm a new rider been on a scooter for the past few years but now I have a red 2008 versys. It runs great and I'm looking forward to getting out there and making some trips...after I get more practice of course. I'm still trying to figure the gear ration with the speeds and what not and what gear is best for what.

Hello and welcome. Someone smarter and wiser than me will likely correct me, but I think the gear ratio information is in the owner's manual. If you don't have it handy, I think they are available here as electronic files.

Congrats on your new bike!

Welcome aboard.

That's simple enough. If the engine is lugging, down shift. If it's singing real high, up shift. You'll get the hang of it in no time.

Greetings, you should keep the revs above 3300 rpms, though at parking lot speeds in first gear its okay to be lower than that. I am usually riding between 3500 and 4500 rpm's normally. on highway speeds usually 5000+ in top gear.

Those who say money can't buy happines haven't bought A VERSYS.

"Twisties" + 6k to redline rpm's/3rd gear = all throttle, ALL DAY!
