new owner

I just joined the forum because I just joined the Versys "family". I have ridden dirt bikes for 20 + years and have always enjoyed the thought of street riding but after trying a sport bike 12 years ago and then a cruiser 5 years ago, I just never fealt coomfortable on anything other than a dual sport. I wanted to do some long rides on the BL Parkway but I just wasn't up for that with my DRZ so I looked at the KLR and my salesman at MR Motorcycles in Asheville, NC mentioned the Versys. I quickly dismissed it as it was a street bike. While researching the KLR the Versys kept popping up so I went back and took it for a spin and I was hooked. It sits very much like a dual sport in that it is more upright. It is a 2009, but it is brand new and I got it for $5998 so I am happy. Rode 120+ miles round trip from Greeneville, TN to MR today to pick up my new Scorpion EXO900 and I loved the ride (and the helmet). Seat was not horrible but it could use a little modifying. Sorry this is long but it has been a very long time since I have been this excited about a bike.

If sliding into the tank is a problem for you, doing something like this to the front seat latch may help.....

It only raised it a fraction of an inch but it helped mine some.
Hope you like the V, it may need to be tweaked for your liking though.

It's blue. I wanted green but that blue has grown on me quickly. Now I love the color.
I definately need to raise the front of the seat as I feel like I am constantly fighting to stay back.

Welcome Teacherman! If you're ever in the Tellico Plains area and can ride weekdays, give me a hollar.
