Greetings from Missouri!

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post here... been lurking on & off for a little while trying to learn about the Versys. I test drove one last weekend at a Kawasaki Test Ride Event & I liked the way it handled (actually took it out 4-5 times). Kawi gave out $500 discount incentives at the test drive. I took the plunge & bought one yesterday. A new 2011. I think I got a good deal at $6200.00?

Now I'm trying to figure out what farkles I want to personalize it with. The seat sits a little too high for me (I'm 5'7"), its manageable but I'd really like to be able to put both feet on the ground at stops. So my first mod is to look into options on lowering it 2-3 inches. Also, want to put crash bars & engine plating on it, hand guards, larger windscreen, & bags.

I want to dress my Versys up for travel/camping adventures. My commuter bike is a Vulcan 500.

A little about me. I live south of Kansas City, Missouri. I'm a sports medicine physician, beginning to semi retire - work part-time. I want to do progressively longer motorcycle travel. Been reading over at ADVrider & HUBB forums... I'm not ready to "cash out" & go but I'd like to do long weekends to multiweek trips.

Started riding back in the 70's... got away from it for several years after being hit head on. I started riding again this past March when I bought a new (2009) Vulcan 500LTD. Been having fun riding the Vulcan and got the "bug" again and wanted a travel/adventure bike (GS, Tiger, V-Strom, Versys, etc...) decided on the Versys after riding, comparing $$$ & features...

I welcome any & all suggestions on Mods & Farkles for my Versys... Links would be greatly appreciated...

KJ

welcome KJ. It sounds like you have things pretty well planned out. You'll have a good time personalizing the bike for your purposes. I really have no additional suggestions. good luck!

Motowerk lowering kit and flatfoot (need to shorten the kickstand when you lower). Great stuff. Don't wait. I waited a month before lowering mine and should have done it right out of the gate. I am 5'8' and 30" inseam and can damn near flat foot it. It was tippie toes before.

Make sure you get the flatfoot for the 2010 - 2011 model as the kickstand changed on the 2010 model & newer.

I have a week scheduled off Oct 8th through the 16th if one of those weekends are good for you I would like to plan to join you.
My riding buddy in KC rides a Wee-Strom and could possibly ride down with me, he works for the RR and is not always sure of his schedule.
let me know what you think.

That sounds great. Let's check schedules and maybe we can make a V group ride out of it!

BTW my V buddy will be in the KC area most of next week (not on his bike). Do you do a bike night or anything? Maybe you guys could connect.
