Hopeful

Hello,
My name is Steve Rowan and I have never owned a motorcycle before. I have ridden a dirt bike once.(Old 80CC Honda) I have recently started considering purchasing a motorcycle for commuting to school. I am a adult student returning to school since I never finished the first time. I like the idea of parking being much closer and cheaper for motorcycles than it is for cars. I visited two local Kawasaki dealers and was introduced to the 09 Versys. I liked the feel on the bike compared to the Ninjas and CBRs I have sat on. What confused me was that the 09's they have are new and the only models they have. Does anyone else think this is weird? I am still working on talking my wife into letting me get a bike. We just remodeled our house so money is a little tight right now.

Steve

Welcome to the forum! Wonderful people and ideas here.

As for the '09 you were looking at, there are certainly a fair amount out there. With the economy being what it has been, motorcycle sales have been down somewhat. Also playing into the equation is that the Versys has never really been heavily marketed by mama Kawi.

I purchased a 2009 last year. It's production date was sometime in 2008.
The only explanation I was given "the market for bikes has dropped with the economy."
My advice, either pay well below the sticker price or have the dealer throw in some features. Like the Kawi "Versys" branded gel seat. (you'll need it.)
Or maybe they can make you a deal on the services ie 1000km oil change etc.
Good Luck. You wont regret purchasing a Versys!
