Hello from Vancouver

Been reading the posts for quite some time and think that the Versys may be my next bike.

Sold my Street Triple R last summer as I did not use it as much as I thought (due to comfort and inconvenience). As my only vehicle the STR was a chore in heavy traffic here in Vancouver.

So I purchased a 2011 Vespa 300 Super for my main transportation around town (near perfect for that) and am now looking at a Versys for longer rides around BC and Washington.

I believe the Versys meets all my needs.

Now I need to test drive one but I did sit on one at our local Motorcycle show and as soon as I sat on it it just felt right.

Hopefully will post pics soon once purchased.

Cheers,
Dan

Another Vespa rider eh.... I've had a couple of GTS 250's. Rode them everywhere - down to Seattle, Over the Coquihalla to the Okanagan, Over the Fraser Canyon to the Okanagan, the Duffy Lake circle tour and every road I could find in the lower mainland and northern Washington. Tons of fun. The Versys is at the top of the list for my next purchase. Just have to wait a while longer until I break free of Ft. McMurray and get back to civilization (next year). From what I understand I'm not missing much weather wise this year.

Welcome. I've had my Versys for nearly a year. I commute to work, take afternoon long rides on the nice days off, and just did a five day trip with it. It has been great. As you've read here, you're bound to love it.

Now, if I could only have a riding season like yours in BC....

Always trust your cape.

Greetings, I wish you luck on your bike purchase. I have thought of checking out the piagio scoots just for fun.

Welcome

As a new rider, (the versys being my first bike). I think you will love riding The versys up and down the interior. For myself, I commute into Victoria from Duncan (i.e. over the malahat) and have had no Problem with my versys. It took me awhile to figure her out and to stop driving her like a car. My bike like to cruze at 5500 - 6000 rpm, I could go a little higher but the sound of the engine get's a little whineee.

Welcome from White Rock. How do you like the Vespa 300? We had a Vespa ET4 four years ago and loved it.

Thank you for the kind welcome.

I love the vespa for around Vancouver. It is perfect. Plenty fast enough to do whatever you need it and lots of storage with the topcase and underseat.

That being said, it is not particularly comfortable for long rides. I went up to Whistler on it but would not want to go more than 2-3 hours at a time.

This is where the versys enters. Like I said, it looks to be a perfect match for me as it handles fairly well (do not intend to go offroad) and a 650 is all I need as I turn 40 this year and the speed thing is well behind me.

Now if I could only get my wife on board with the idea of a motorcycle. She is a trauma surgeon at one of the local hospitals so she only sees the sad and dangerous side to motorcycles.

Cheers,
Dan
