WOW, I love it!

Howdy y'all.
Been checking this site out for a bit and you guys convinced me to get one of these Versys bikes. Purchased the last 08 in this area last night. Drove her home and had the most enjoyable experience. (I may have exceeded the 4k rpm for break in, but dang thats hard not to do) All I can say is..well..thanks, it's a blast!

I haven't been on a bike in more than 20 years since laying one down. So basically starting new. Living on a graveled country road does not inspire confidence in learning to ride again. Off course they just layed fresh gravel over half the 3 miles or so of road, (they do that about 2x a year) but the Versys did ok, just went slow.

Great site with a good community here. Looking forward to learning all I can.
Anyone in Mid MO shoot me a pm, would love to ride with ya.

I have found out something that I can share with you. If you are on a gravel road put it into second gear you won't stall it and any throttle you give it won't jerk you around as much as being in first gear.

Even though the Vis very capable of gravel and other surfaces, the stock tire's aren't nearly as equipped for anything but pavement. If you're riding unpaved roads a lot, a different set of tires would be an enormous benefit.

Gravel roads have more to do with rider skill and technique than what tires you run. I've got hundreds of miles on gravel on the stock tires. The V does great here. Sure tires will help, but it's got more to do with technique. Edit, I'm not trying to be a dick I swear! I've had guys on dirt bikes with worn out bald tires kick my ass and amaze me with their skills climbing hills I couldn't with brand new tires and going right through mud with ease. Practice makes perfect.

I like to give it lot's O throttle in gravel and walk the rear end out, hear that twin roar. It's a blast.

Have fun on your new V!!!

Absolutely Miguel, you are right on and I have full respect for the bike and need to hone skills, thanks. This weekends rides were much more subdued.

Vred thats exactly what I did last couple trips and it seems to work. The deeper really loose sections cause a bit of a pucker factor though.

Luke, I am too chick..., er conservative, yeah, thats it. Haha, maybe some day. Still gotta lot to learn.

Thanks all.
