hello from greece

hello to all v owners. I have had my 2008 versys for quite some time now. I never before joined the versys forum but, to be honest, I'm in a serious need for help now so... here I am!

Last weekend i rode through rough terrain for about 15 miles and the engine runned hot for a long period of time (115 degrees on my after market temp sensor)

since then the engine runs really hot after 2 or 3 min in idle ( 100 degrees ) and i have power loss in ride. the idle doesn't stay still and there is weird smell (NOT fumes) from the exhaust.

what i did : i changed the oild this morning, i found extremely thin metallic flakes visible only if u point light on the oil. the old oil was watery and pitch dark

i pulled and cleaned ignition coils.

I'm thinking its either ignition coild or ... due to the overheat have I blown up a gasket??

And are you confident that the radiator fan is working properly?

ofcourse i am i can hear it/ see it at 115 degrees turing on and (temperature according to the temp screen) the bike reaches 100 degrees easily after 1 or 2 mins idle in the afternoon with ambient temperature 30 degrees. Also i tried to throw water on the exhausts to see if the power loss has to do with a misfiring spring coil BUT i didn't see any difference. No fumes or anything. Just powerloss and high temps i don't know if i should move the bike at all or not

Kastoria is beautiful with many places to drive by, if by any chance you decide to ride through the old villages it's a lifetime experience!

OK, I solved the problem by visiting the mechanic today. Old spark plugs in combination with adulterate gasoline made the bike stall and overheat. Removed all the gas the mechanic fixed (he didn't explain) the gas pump changed the spark plugs aaaannnddd the bike runs like new!
