Lurker from Colorado

Haven't owned a bike for a number of years, but plan on purchasing as soon as I have the money freed up. I've been lurking here for some time, learning about the V and have decided the 650LT will work best for me.
Rode a lot of off-road in my teens and twenties, as well as touring. My last bike was a Yamaha 850 triple (1981 vintage), so it's been a while.

Question: I like the 650 LT for both price and weight, but would like to do some occasional touring two-up and wonder if it will be enough. Pax and I weigh in at 320lbs.

Thanks!

Better to remain silent, and be thought a fool, than speak and remove all doubt.

320lbs + not too much in the panniers/rack (if you mount one) should be fine, just plan ahead (I'll repeat: plan ahead) when riding at altitude. Colorado Drivers tend to be... impatient (read: d*ckheads) so try to limit I70 mountain riding, use back roads and watch for Colorado Drivers.

_24 years in Monument, had moments on freeway where a ZX14R wasn't enough. no joke.

650LT is fine for just anything short of polar expeditions with planning.

I hear you, I don't like I-70 in a car!
