Long time V rider, just joined forum.
I've been riding a Versys since 2010. Bought a 2008 model with about 10K miles from a friend for $3500. He had a top box rack and an Ohlins shock on it, so I added top box, Caribou 35L Pelican panniers, Givi windscreen and recently, Delkevic stainless full exhaust (stock one was cracking). I've used it for travelling, camping, run track days on it and commuted. Now pushing 74,000 miles and running strong. I have run various street tires (BT-023, Q3, PR4s) and currently have become a fan of Shinko 705s. The set that is on there now cost $152 for the set, and I recently ran flat out with some sport bikes and did a little dirt riding in the same day. They are great on the street and pretty darn good on dirt, too. I do valve checks every 20K miles or so (occasionally need a tweak), do oil changes every 5000 miles with Rotella T6 and regular maintenance. I've had two issues: 1. don't fill the gas up into the neck, it seems to vapor lock the breather 2. a loose connection on my battery from a piece of packaging that got in there and kept it from making contact (took me a while to sort that one out, since it looked like a good connection). Hope other riders are as happy with their Vs as I am!
