Stator coil always worries me

Versys 650 yr 2012 version (Malaysia CKD) is known for stator coil problem, i'm just waiting for this to happen to my versys and it did, mileage around 35k km.

So im having a hard time to start the bike and the Fi light is coming up frantically, but i did manage to start it and rode about 30km then i need to refuel, but once i turned off the engine i could not start the bike anymore as there is not enough power to kick start it. So i have jump start it and rode another 20km to the nearest bike shop and in my heart i roughly know it is the stator coil. Got it replaced and continue with the journey up north towards Thailand, the shop did not require oil change to change the stator coil pretty amazing how they do it, they jus slant the bike to the side and open the side cover just to replace the coil.

Didn't know there was a version of versy with a kick starter. Also the graphics on your tank panels remind me of the yamaha graphics in the early 70s.

Not every stator "dies".

Or you could upgrade your voltage regulator to a "series" one instead of the "shunt" that comes OEM, thus extending the life of your stator....
