New Member in Colorado

Hello! New member on the Western Slope of Colorado.

Pickedup my 2012 650 two weeks ago and love it!

Took it on an offroad trail for the first time and dropped it on some loose gravel!

I have been searching but not having the best luck. the lower plastic part has a crack & piece missing now. Do they make a metal replacement? The plastic tank cover is scratched, I plan on just sanding and wrapping or plasti dipping that piece... Probably not the last time this bike will touch the ground.

Any help is much appreciated! Links to good threads on similar stuff is great!

Lots to learn!!

Thanks.

Ebay would be a good place for the replacement plastic piece....You might check into some crash bars. I like the Hepco/Becker crash bars but a lot of the guys like the SW/Motech stuff..Crashbars for Kawasaki KLE650 Versys | Accessories International

Cool

Sweet, Crashbar ordered!!

Removed broken piece & sanded/dipped the scratched part. Will probably not replace the lower plastic and just have the crash bar.

Thanks for the input!

I dropped my new 2016 over at a stop sign. It was just too tall for me. My hubby spent the rest of the weekend teaching me how to balance using one leg instead of using two since I couldn't flat foot it! Just put a scratch on the right bag thank goodness. Only had 300 miles on it.

Howdy! I just picked my new-to-me 2014 Versys 650 from Rocky Mountain Kawasaki over here on the other side of the hills -- I've had mine a couple weeks now and I absolutely love the bike. Apparently, dropping your new Versys is a fairly common right of passage for those of us blessed with an underabundance of inseam. I put a little scuff onto my bar end weight, lower plastic, and footpeg. Engine guards are on the shortlist after I get my new footpegs and rear rack installed. Busted off an inch of my clutch lever, too but after filing the end to smooth it out it's still rideable. My story wasn't as cool as putting it down in the gravel... ;-)

I'm looking forward to a full season of road riding and a couple short tours and having a bike that works incredibly well as a commuter and as a weekend blaster.

Cheers!
